Camera modes control how your map behaves as you move or explore. Here’s a quick guide to each mode, how to switch between them, and what information your GPS location provides.
How to use Camera modes
1. Tap the Camera modes button in the top-right corner of the main map screen to toggle between modes.
2. Long-press the Camera modes button to view a short explanation of each mode.
Free mode
Free mode gives you full control to explore the map. The map remains fixed (no rotation), regardless of your movement.
💡Tip: You’ll automatically enter Free mode if you swipe or tap firmly on the map while in another mode.
Lock mode
Lock mode is the default camera mode when you open the app, and it keeps the map centered on your current GPS location.
- Zooming in/out will not change the centering.
- Stronger gestures or taps will switch you to Free mode.
- If haptics are enabled, you’ll feel a light vibration when Lock mode is deactivated.
💡Tip: Tap the Camera modes button in Free mode to enter Lock mode and re-center the map on your GPS location.
Rotate mode
Rotate mode functions like Lock mode but also rotates the map based on your heading direction. To activate it, tap the Camera modes button while in Lock mode.
