In this article you’ll learn everything related to Nautical maps, from coverage, access, depth units, map symbols & more.
How to access Nautical maps
- Tap the Map type button in your top-right of the main map screen
- Select “Nautical” from the options
How to read the depth charts?
Depth is shown in meters, and this unit cannot be changed in Settings. The depth measurements are usually comprised of two numbers, a large (main) number is usually followed by a small offset number, which depicts decimal depths.
For example, “41” means the water is 4.1 meters deep.
Why can’t I see depth contours for my local water body?
When the Nautical map type is selected, you can view depth contours for saltwater areas worldwide and major freshwater bodies. Unfortunately, smaller freshwater bodies aren’t covered by the nautical maps provided in our app.
Offline use
Nautical maps are generally not downloadable, except U.S. NOAA nautical charts, which are available for offline use.
