How wind affects fishing
Wind influences fishing in several important ways:
- Surface disturbance: Wind creates ripples and waves that reduce underwater visibility, making fish less cautious and more likely to bite
- Oxygen levels: Wind action increases water oxygenation, often stimulating fish activity and feeding
- Baitfish movement: Wind pushes plankton and small prey fish, concentrating predatory fish on windward shores
- Temperature changes: Wind can push warmer or cooler surface water into new areas, creating fishing hotspot
