This article shows you how to use the app’s Trolling and Measure tools to make your trolling more strategic and organised.
What is trolling fishing?
It’s a fishing method where you drag bait or lures behind a moving boat to attract and catch fish. In the app, the Trolling tool helps you track and mark your trolling path on the map for better fishing results.
Planning a Trolling path
Using the Measure tool, you can pre-plan and save a Trolling path. This lets you drop multiple points on the map, measure distances, and simulate a planned route.
How can I save/record a Trolling path?
There are several ways to record a Trolling path:
1. From the main map
- Tap the white “+” button in the bottom-right
- Select "Record trolling"
- Hold the red Stop button to finish
2. From the Locations menu
- Tap Trollings at the top
- Tap the blue "New trolling" button
- Hold the red Stop button to finish
3. Using the Measure tool
- Tap the white “+” button in the bottom-right of the main map screen
- Select Measure
- Tap the blue “+” button to add 3 or more points
- Select Save as trolling
In case you’re not satisfied with your Trolling path, you can discard it without saving. After finishing the recording, choose “Discard” in your top-left.
How to troll for fish?
To troll for fish, move your boat at a steady speed while trailing bait or lures at varying depths. In Fishing Points, you can mark trolling routes, monitor your speed and save the spots where you get bites — helping you build better fishing strategies over time.
