It’s a long fishing line with multiple baited hooks spread across its length, anchored at both ends. It’s an efficient method for catching multiple fish at once.
The Trotline tool lets you easily plan, record, and manage your trotlines on the map, so you never lose track of them and can improve your fishing experience.
How can I save/record a Trotline?
There are several ways to record a Trotline:
1. From the main map
- Tap the white “+” button in the bottom-right
- Select “Record trotline”
- Hold the red Stop button to finish
2. From the Locations menu
- Tap “Trotlines” at the top
- Tap the blue “New trotline” button
- Hold the red Stop button to finish
3. Using the Measure tool
- Tap the white “+” button on the main map
- Select “Measure”
- Tap the blue “+” button to add 2 points
- Select “Save as trotline”
How to make a Trotline?
To set up a Trotline manually:
- Attach multiple baited hooks along a sturdy fishing line.
- Anchor both ends to fixed objects like trees or weights.
- Submerge the line in water, allowing the baited hooks to catch fish over time.
- Leave it for several hours to allow fish to take the bait.
- Check regularly to:
- Remove caught fish
- Re-bait hooks
- Ensure the line stays in place
