This article explains everything you need to know about importing Locations from other sources (e.g. Google Earth, chartplotters, fishfinders, etc.) and exporting/sharing your own saved Locations.
How to export Locations?
You can share (or export) your fishing spots in KMZ, GPX, or coordinate-only formats.
Export a single Location:
- Open the Location’s details
- Tap the share icon in the top-right
- Choose your preferred file format: KMZ, GPX, or coordinates only
Export multiple Locations
- Open Menu > Locations
- Long-press to start selecting
- Tap the share icon in the top-right
- Choose to export them as a KMZ or GPX file
How to import Locations? 
You can import saved fishing spots, trotlines, trolling paths, or other waypoints using KMZ, KML, or GPX file formats. You can import multiple Locations from one file or several files at once.
The Import feature is available exclusively to Fishing Points Premium subscribers. If you're using the free version of the app, you’ll need to upgrade to Premium to import location data.
✅ Easiest method (all devices)
- Email the location file(s) to yourself
- Open the file directly from your email
- Choose to open it with Fishing Points
- You’ll be redirected to the app and your data will be imported automatically

iOS: Save your Locations to the Files app
> Go to Locations in our app
> Tap the Import button in the top-right
> Tap “Import from Files app” > Choose Location data you want to import.

Android: Save your Locations to the “Fishing Points Kmz Files” folder on your SD card > Go to Locations in our app
> Tap Import button in the top-right
> Choose the Location data you want to import.
